The Student Foundation is comprised of three key divisions: Asset Management, Quantitative Technologies, and the Undergraduate Investment Society. Each division plays a crucial role within our organization.
The Three Divisions
Asset Management (AM)
The Asset Management Division conducts in-depth equity research across five sectors, including Technology and Industrials, and delivers quarterly stock pitches. We analyze companies by thoroughly examining their operations and competitive landscapes, and we build Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) models that factor in market volatility and risks. This approach allows us to gain deeper insights into the financial valuations of companies under various scenarios.
Quantitative Technologies (Quant)
Quantitative Technologies is a new addition to SFIC’s portfolio task force. This division aims to build a community of driven UCSD students interested in exploring careers in quantitative finance. It offers a unique platform for individuals with technical expertise and a passion for finance to apply their skills in real-world projects, with their contributions directly influencing investment strategies related to the alumni endowment fund.
Undergraduate Investment Society (UIS)
The Undergraduate Investment Society (UIS) hosts weekly finance workshops on topics like networking, resume tips, and technical interview prep. We also offer discussions with alumni and industry professionals in fields such as investment banking, private equity, and equity research, providing members valuable networking opportunities. Beyond career development, we foster a genuine community through a variety of social events.
